Anders Leth Damgaard (1988), amber specialist and president of the Danish Amber Association (DAA). He's been studying insects in amber since 2008. What started out as a leisure study has intervened over the years and now become his life project. The primary focus is beetles in amber, but over time the focus has also been broader. The private collection is large and includes i.a. inclusions in Mexican, Dominican, Baltic, New Jersey and Burmese amber.
Its scientific value cannot be underestimated, and his work has already revealed findings of more than 35 new species, resulted in several scientific articles and collaborations with researchers and dissemination institutions such as the Natural History Museum of Denmark, Tirpitz, GeoCenter Møn and the Natural History Museum of London.
As part of his work, he lectures in Denmark and abroad as a consultant and researcher for private collectors and museums. He is a specialist in macro photography of inclusions in amber and as a constructor of exhibitions for private collectors, institutions and museums. Among other things, he has consulted the Natural History Museum of Denmark in the purchase of one of the world's largest private collections of Baltic amber - The Karin Nordmann Collection that consists of more than 70,000 pieces of amber with inclusions. In addition, he has just finished work on an extensive permanent amber exhibition at Geo Center Møns Klint.
It is important that we go exploring, investigating, researching and gain a greater awareness of our amazing world. It is just as important that we make the knowledge available to everyone. The purpose of this website is to take part in this process and build a large database of knowledge about amber - available to everyone.
